Checkpoint 08: graphics matrix and native presenters - IN PROGRESS
Parent: PHLEGM-v8-Developer-Distribution-Native-GUI-07-2026-1007-1508-4169.zip

User requested checkpoint during implementation. Recoverable developer source snapshot, not a fully runtime-validated release.
Requested 12-target matrix retained: Windows 32bit/64bit and Linux x86/x86_64, each OpenGL/D3D11/Vulkan.
Native tree/archive implementation from checkpoint06 retained, with no runtime PowerShell archive operations.

New implementation:
- Vulkan native swapchain/transfer presenter for Windows and Linux, with fixed-width Vulkan ABI, SDL surface creation, graphics/present queue selection, coherent staging allocation, image transitions/copy, acquire/submit/present synchronization, resize/recreation and resource disposal.
- Linux D3D11 through DXVK Native: native Unix ABI, SDL2 WSI selection, matching-architecture DXGI/D3D11 library loading, swapchain creation, pixel upload via UpdateSubresource, resize and disposal. The DXVK Native upstream headers confirm that native WINAPI/STDMETHODCALLTYPE use the native Unix calling convention. No automatic fallback to another renderer.
- Windows SDL2 dispatch loads SDL2-32.dll / SDL2-64.dll (standard SDL2.dll fallback), allowing combined architectures in the same install folder without conflicting DLL names; Windows OpenGL/D3D11 explicitly select the corresponding SDL accelerated renderer.
- Build UI metadata, master platform definitions, project builder/legacy installer and native Linux shell entry accept all three backends on both OSes. Shared Compiler UI/bootstrap engine implementation remains unchanged; backend UI differences are driving-data updates.
- Project runtime dependency manifest/helper provisions Windows SDL2 2.32.10 from official release ZIPs and validates PE machine type; packages uniquely named DLLs. Linux D3D11 packages matching ELF-class/machine DXVK Native libraries from PHLEGM_DXVK_X86 / PHLEGM_DXVK_X86_64 or known system/project runtime folders. This build-time helper has not been executed under PowerShell here.
- Linux GUI refinement: host editor focus suppresses machine keyboard input with the existing release gate; SDL keyboard polling supports Wayland as well as X11; clone-command softmode in tree/icons and macro editor; status text updates only on change. Existing tree/icons, native/CHR font switch, PPU/APU toggles and FPS/frame-skip implementation retained.

Validation:
PASS initial 72 checks: drawchr/gui/archive/tree/macro/application across all 12 targets. Linux x86/x86_64 native object compilation; Windows 32/64 C code generation, NOT Windows object/link/runtime.
PASS final 16 checks after refinements: GUI per OS/architecture (Linux native objects, Windows C generation), application C generation across all 12 targets.
PASS native Linux x86_64 OpenGL create/present/resize/destroy offscreen smoke test, rerun after final host/input edits. Source included.
A native Vulkan instance/device/buffer/command smoke test was added, but cannot run successfully here: Vulkan loader installed, no Vulkan ICD/driver present (vkCreateInstance cannot initialize). No Vulkan WSI runtime claim.
DXVK Native libraries are absent in this environment; missing-dependency behavior verified, real Linux D3D11 rendering unverified. No display server for GTK interaction/visual QA; no Windows runtime/cross-linker or Linux 32-bit runtime.
Checkpoint07 Linux x86_64 OpenGL full link/--help PASS remains the previous milestone; stage08 complete application links have not yet been rerun. Inherited native binaries were deliberately excluded rather than mislabeled as stage08 outputs.

Outstanding:
- Finish error/retry handling for backend resource failures and out-of-date swapchains.
- Translate SDL window owners to HWND for Windows confirmation dialogs.
- Complete full Linux64 links/startup tests and repeat required checks after any fixes.
- Exercise GTK tools/font/icon behavior and Vulkan/DXVK presentation on a graphical host; verify actual Windows32/64 linking/runtime and Linux32 runtime, packaging helpers and combined payload deployment.
Source checkpoint does not claim those tasks are complete. Runtime dependencies must match executable architecture and supported GPU drivers.
Normal text CRLF, shell scripts LF. Linux .elf / Windows .exe naming preserved.
